East Lyme — Caleb Trost and Max Montejano scored second-half goals Saturday and the East Lyme High School boys’ soccer team defeated Waterford 2-0 in the schools’ annual ALS Cup game.
Oliver Lopez made three saves for the Vikings (6-0 overall, 3-0 Eastern Connecticut Conference Division II), who have not been scored upon this season, and Garrison Biggs and Carter Hofer added assists.
Ben Dubicki made 11 saves for Waterford (1-5, 0-3).
In other games:
• Lucas Weitknecht and Justin Portillo each scored goals and Norwich Tech edged Wheeler 2-1. Portillo scored the game-winner with 13 minutes, 37 seconds remaining on a penalty kick and Anthony Caisse made four saves in goal for Norwich Tech (3-2). Devlin McCusker scored for Wheeler (4-2).
Girls’ soccer
• Kaileigh Eslin scored two goals as St. Bernard blanked Fitch 4-0. Abbey Egan and Vanessa Colla also scored for St. Bernard (3-2) and Harriet Powers recorded the shutout in goal. Fitch is 2-5.
• Waterford and Old Saybrook tied 1-1. Sadie Tiven tied the game for the Lancers with 26 seconds left in regulation, off Casey Jadamec’s free kick. Trinity Flynn had eight saves for Waterford (1-2-4).
• Ledyard defeated New London 8-0. Terri Foster scored twice for Ledyard (3-3-1) and Vanessa Syphrett and Teagan Caviness each had a goal and an assist. New London is 0-5.
• Freshman Mabel Peterson scored her first career varsity goal for Killingly/Tourtellotte in a 6-1 loss to East Hampton. Kezlee Morrarty had the assist for Killingly/Tourtellotte (3-2-1).
Football
• Bacon Academy/Lyman Memorial had seven different ball carriers, running 30 times for 227 yards and five touchdowns in a 51-0 victory over Amistad. Riddick Burroughs led the way with 10 carries for 63 yards and three touchdowns and also threw a 29-yard touchdown pass to Harrison Billiot for the Bobcats (2-0), while Lucian Dean added four carries for 56 yards. Skip Coogan and Zander Nantz added touchdown runs and Caden King had a 47-yard interception return for a touchdown, 10 solo tackles and a forced fumble. Mason Howard was 7-for-7 on extra point attempts.
• Quinn Sumner threw for 177 yards and three touchdowns as Killingly blanked East Lyme 42-0 Friday night in ECC Division I. Hunter Allard caught two scoring passes and Hayden Allard ran for 157 yards for the Trailblazers (2-0, 1-0). East Lyme is 1-1, 0-1.
• Porter Carter ran for three touchdowns and Fitch moved to 2-0 with a 28-0 win over Windham on Friday night. Ashton Ngadjui also scored for Fitch and led the Falcons with 67 yards rushing. The Falcons ran for 220 yards overall.
• Zhi’mir Maddox-Moore scored three touchdowns and had more than 200 all-purpose yards Thursday as New London evened its record at 1-1 with a 24-13 win over Woodstock Academy. Mateo Ford and Jordan Bennett combined for six sacks for the Whalers.
Girls’ cross country
• Stonington’s Molly Musselman won the Small School race at the Winding Trails Invitational in Farmington, finishing in 19 minutes, 29 seconds. Lyman Memorial’s Sylvie Hiltz was sixth (20:51), with Lyman teammates Nora Johnson eighth (21:01) and Elisabeth Person 13th (21:37). Lyman was fourth with 82 points and Stonington fifth with 106. In the Medium Division, Fitch was sixth with 147, led by Colbie Synhorst in 27th (23:14).
• Elyse Overmoyer finished second overall as Wheeler defeated Old Lyme 24-31 at the Wheeler Invitational. Old Lyme’s Chase Gilbert was the overall winner in 18:57.Rounding out the top five were Old Lyme’s Maia Guisti, third in 21.50; Williams School’s Lena Cosentino, fourth in 22:10; and Wheeler’s Sophie Zichichi, fifth in 22:25.
Boys’ cross country
• Julien Silva was fifth in 16:40, Kai Gordon 13th in 17:33 and Jayden Moscol 17th in 17:43 to lead Fitch to a fourth-place finish at the Winding Trails Invitational in Farmington with 98 points. In the Small Division, Montville was sixth, Lyman Memorial seventh, St. Bernard 10th and Stonington 11th. The top local finishers in the Small Division race were St. Bernard’s Rad Tanksley (14th), Lyman’s Tilden Reinckens (16th) and Montville’s Jackson Holmes (19th).
• Ryan Ortoleva finished second overall in 18:30 and led Old Lyme to a first-place team finish Friday at the Wheeler Invitational. The Wildcats finished with 34 points, followed by Ellis Tech (39), Wheeler (77) and Norwich Tech (83). Williams School’s Jadiel Thomas was third in 18:55, Old Lyme’s Maxwell Paonessa fourth in 19:17 and Norwich Tech’s Savien Diaz fifth in 19:25.
Field hockey
• Mia Lloyd had a goal and three assists, with a hand in every goal as East Lyme edged Lauralton Hall 4-3. Peyton Swanson, Sophia Gibson and Nitya Bulusu also scored for the Vikings (6-1).
• Melanie Verbridge had two goals and an assist and Hana Lyon added a pair of goals for Stonington in a 5-0 victory over Fitch in the ECC. Samantha Russo also scored for the Bears (3-1-1, 2-0-1). Esme Carlebach made 34 saves for Fitch (0-6, 0-3).
Volleyball
• Danielle Veillette had eight digs, five aces and three kills to lift Killingly to a 23-21, 25-23, 25-18 win over Norwich Tech on Friday night. Shyah Baker added seven aces and three kills for Killingly (6-2) and Lyla Rondeau four digs and four aces. Norwich Tech is 5-4.
